Ears peirced and A bump on my earlobe?

Okay so I got my ear's pierced about three months ago at clairs.
I waited six weeks to take my clair's studs out and got some new earrings that was made of white gold and rubies. Anyways when I took my old studs out I noticed a bump on my right ear lobe next to the piercing. And it hurt when I put my new earrings in. It has been a month since then it still hurts when I put different earrings in and I still have that bump thing, it goes away after awhile but I can still feel it. Do you know what's up??

Your opinions on earring(s) for a guy?

I'm in my mid 20's and going back to school soon. I've always liked the way small simple earrings look on girls and guys. I've toyed with the idea of getting my ear(s) pierced but haven't gotten the nerve to do it yet.

I think this is something I should maybe try while I still have the chance (I picture it being much less of in issue in school than in the professional world after).

I'm not sure if I want just my left ear or both ears. I have medium brown hair, hazel eyes, and wear silver framed glasses. I've thought about something like a small white gold ball, a tiny white gold hoop, or a subtle diamond in white gold. Maybe something a little more creative like a birthstone? I'm considering finally getting it done as a celebration of being a student again.

What would you suggest?

Why does my ear hurt?

Okay, first off I have had my ears pierced for at least 7 or 8 years. I had my ear cartilage pierced at Piercing Pagoda. I only had a problem with my ears being allergic to nickel after a year of having them.

Now, this past weekend I decided to wear my birthstone studs I got when I first got them pierced and after wearing them for maybe fourteen hours, I came home and my ear was painful to touch (Btw, I never had a problem with these earrings before). I quickly took out my earring, thinking the pain would subside, but after two days it still hurts.

When I touch it is quite painful and slightly swollen. When I push the piercing from the back the hole itself is really red and gross. I know it is either reacting to some sort of metal or they are infected. Any suggestions would help. :)
