For my wedding in a few weeks, I want to give my bridesmaids/maid of honor some earrings as a gift. Since there is no colour theme to the day, any type of jewelry would do - I was thinking then of Amethyst as the wedding is in February, and Amethyst is the birthstone for February. Do you think this is a good idea? Or is giving jewelry with specific birthstones solely used for birthday celebrations?

I think its a great idea you could say to them this is a gift to my bridesmaids and matron of honor earrings that a birthstone for February but i am representing them as remembrance to my wedding.
I like the idea trust me and the girls will love you for it.

I like the personal touch of the wedding month with the earrings. i think that’s really sweet. But with them being a birthstone, the girls might be a little confused. I would recommend going with the purple theme. Make little gift baskets using amethyst colors. I gave all of my girls a jewelry boxes that went with the theme with the wedding. Most women do not want jewelry and don’t consider it to be a good bridesmaid gift since it is something you want them to wear at the wedding. That is not a gift for them in that case since it is for you. Pick something that fits their individual hobbies and interests and they don’t have to be identical.
Most brides give as gifts, the jewelry that they want their BM’s to wear for the wedding. That way it’s one less thing that they have to worry about purchasing. So I would suggest getting them something that matches the dresses.
I think it is a great idea because it is sentimental and has meaning behind it.
Even if they don’t have anything to match them, i’m sure they’ll go get something.
Amethyst is a beautiful color and I think your bridal party will love it!
